The Unwanted Guest

I wrote this as a channel for my feelings about a few select thoughts that have been bothering me lately. Though perhaps a fitting metaphor for some situations — and something many of you have probably lived through — this was written with delight and warmth. Enjoy.

Oh you, who I chose not to invite, after hours of deliberate list checking, stands there, staring?

Why must you have come?

Oh you, who grins with all teeth, each tooth coated in smugness and irritation.

Why must you have come?

Oh you, whose prowess is that of an odious fly, always lingering, lunging, buzzing.

Why must you have come?

Oh you, whose pernicious behavior is already wearing me thin, dares to show at my party?

Why must you have come?

Oh you, whose face is veiled with a vivacious mask, though torn and frayed at best, is here?

Why must you have come?
