The highly-anticipated sequel to Disney Pixar’s The Incredibles has recently dropped its first full-length trailer, just 14 years after the original film and 4 years after plans for the sequel were announced. It’s safe to say we could not be more excited. With the entire Parr family looking geared up for action, appearances from fan-favorites Frozone and Edna Mode, plus a few intriguing new faces, the film is bound to be a hit for people of all ages. So what do we really hope to see from the long-awaited Incredibles 2?
One of the main questions is whether or not it will carry on right after the end of the original film. The signs seem to point to yes as the Underminer, the villain seen right at the end of The Incredibles, also reappears in the trailer. It will certainly be interesting to see how our family of Supers deal with this—does everything go smoothly, or do new problems surface that set up the premise of the film? Also, who will be the main villain of the film? The main antagonist of Incredibles 2 hasn’t been explicitly revealed yet, but hopefully they will live up to the legacy of Syndrome and cause trouble for our heroes. Could they even be one of the new faces hinted at in the trailer? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
In contrast to the original film where Bob Parr, A.K.A. Mr. Incredible, takes on heroic endeavors on his own much to the dismay of his wife Helen (Elastigirl), she appears to be the one taking the super-spotlight in this film whilst Bob tries to focus on being a parent. It would be great to see the women in Incredibles 2 finally embracing their powers to their full potential, as they were quite conservative about their abilities in The Incredibles with Elastigirl wanting to lead a normal life and Violet’s shy nature. We definitely hope to see a lot more action with Elastigirl and Violet in this film!
From the trailer, it’s also shown that Bob is struggling with parenthood, just as he struggled with his day-to-day work life in The Incredibles. Bwho can really blame him when his baby shoots lasers from his eyes and turns into a fireball, cannonball and small devil-looking monster? Needless to say, it will be heart-warming to see Bob power through his parenting struggles. A full reveal of baby Jack-Jack’s powers will also be very intriguing, as the wide and strange variety seen in both the original film and the trailer has left many a bit confused as to the capacity of his super powers.
And of course, we’d like to see a lot more of side characters Frozone and Edna and their interactions with the Parr family. That’s just a given!
Incredibles 2 is set to be released on June 14th, and you can catch the full-length trailer here!
