Why Kourtney Kardashian and Drake Potentially Dating People Way Younger Than Them Is an Issue

This past week, Kourtney Kardashian and Drake made headlines regarding their alleged relationships with people way younger than them, sparking heated discussion on the morality of large age gaps in relationships. Many have taken to Twitter to express their feelings regarding Kourtney Kardashian and Drake’s new relationships, with most people feeling like Kourtney and Drake are in the wrong for dating people more than ten years younger than them. But there are also many people that feel like since Kourtney and Drake’s partners are eighteen or older there is no problem since it is legal in California where the two stars live and “love has no age.”

Large age gaps in relationships and pairings aren’t uncommon in our generation, especially with the growth of young people using arrangement and “sugar daddy” apps. Also, in Hollywood, large age gaps in relationships are a huge occurrence, with some of the most well-known celebrities being in relationships with either someone half their age or someone twice their age. But just because this practice is popular and legal, doesn’t necessarily make it right.

Kourtney Kardashian is no stranger to dating younger men. In fact, all of the men she has ever dated or been rumored to have dated have been younger than her, with her most recent ex-boyfriend, Younes Bendjima, being fourteen years younger than her. Now she is rumored to be dating twenty-year-old model, fashion designer, and Grown-ish actor Luka Sabbat, and Kourtney Kardashian is almost twenty years older than him. The rumors of them dating come from the two of them being seen attending dinner and other functions together, as well as some sources close to Kourtney Kardashian saying that the two are “having fun.” But whether Kourtney Kardashian and Luka Sabbat are actually dating or not, many do not find this supposed relationship cute at all.

In the past, Drake has dated and has been rumored to have dated women of all ages. Just last year he had a fling with Jennifer Lopez, and he has been rumored to of had flings with young models Hailey Baldwin and Bella Hadid in recent years. Funny enough, Drake made headlines earlier this month for being ghosted by Heidi Klum, a woman around ten years his senior. However, this week, Drake was rumored to be dating eighteen-year-old model Bella Harris after supposedly eating dinner with her in Washington, D.C. Many feel uncomfortable with this supposed relationship because Drake is thirteen years older than Bella, and he has known her since she was sixteen. Bella also recently graduated high school in May which makes the rumored relationship even more unsettling. Though Bella addressed the rumors of Drake and her having dinner together in Washington, D.C. as false, she did not deny the rumors of her and Drake dating. Regardless, the internet does not think highly of this pairing, either.

At the end of the day, the supposed romances of Kourtney Kardashian and Drake are legal. All four people involved in these relationships are legal adults that are allowed to date each other by law. But the controversy surrounding large age gap relationships falls more on the morals of the act rather than it’s legality, as many feel like people over the age of thirty should not be dating 18- to 21-year-olds. In many of these relationships, the younger person is vulnerable and susceptible to manipulation due to their immaturity when it comes to life and relationships. Also, in many of these relationships, the younger person is sought out mainly for the fact that they are young, which is a weak foundation to put a relationship on.
