Kate Moss, 44-year-old British fashion model was heavily criticized after an interview in 2009 with WWD when asked if she had a mantra.
To this, she replied, ” Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels,” adding on, ” You try and remember but it never works.”
This quote caused pure chaos among eating disorder advocates when it was first published and as they predicted, the motto too this day has been glorified by Pro-anorexia websites and accounts.

When interviewed by Megyn Kelly on September 12th, Moss expressed regret, almost embarrassment, when the quote was brought up. She claims that the quote was a mock “jingle” that she and her friends use to say when they were living together.
According to Moss she, herself never had an eating disorder. In her 2012 interview with Vanity Fair, she explained: “I was thin, but that’s because I was doing shows, working really hard. At that time, I was staying at a B&B in Milan, and you’d get home from work and there was no food. You’d get to work in the morning, there was no food.”
Later in that interview, Moss hinted that anxiety may have been an underlying cause. Her shoot with Calvin Klein, in which the 17-year-old topless Moss straddled Mark Walburg, sent her into a spell where she “couldn’t get out of bed for two weeks.” Moss was often threatened not to be booked if she didn’t comply with going nude, so she began to think of it as part of the job.
In retrospect to some of those topless shoots, Moss urges models not to be pressured into shooting nude.
“They don’t have to do it, I wouldn’t let my daughter do it. She’s 15 and to think I was going topless at her age is crazy.”
Furthermore, today Moss has a positive outlook on the current state of the modeling industry. She believes “there is so much more diversity now ” with size and color. She encourages models not to be a “one size model” when there are many different kinds of people to represent.
Although the quote will never be pulled from the grasps of the pro-anorexia community, hopefully now spectators can distance Kate from that dark part in her life.
