Roughly last year, Disney announced their new streaming service called Disney+ alongside with three Marvel series; Falcon & Winter Soldier, Loki and WandaVision, and fans couldn’t be more excited for this upcoming TV shows. Falcon & Winter Soldier will, more or less, be the first Marvel Disney+ series to air and here’s all we know so far about the TV show.
1. Filming date & director
According to Sebastian Stan, the actor of Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, the series will begin filming in October this year. He also had some expectations about this series. He said that he wanted Bucky to have a different identity rather than the one he currently has. This series is predicted to air in August 2020 with six episodes. It’s also has been announced that Kari Skogland is set to direct this series. She is known to direct some episodes of the award-winning TV show The Handmaid’s Tale.
2. Sharon Carter is back
Emily VanCamp is announced to join the Falcon & Winter Soldier cast. VanCamp played as Sharon Carter, the great-niece of the beloved Peggy Carter, in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and also in Captain America: Civil War. She was a S.H.I.E.L.D agent and later joined CIA after HYDRA uprising in The Winter Soldier. Sharon was the one who helped Steve Rogers, Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson getting back their gears in Civil War. Sharon’s exact role in this series, whether she’s a main or side character, is still unknown.
3. Daniel Brühl joins the cast
Sam and Bucky better watch out because Daniel Brühl is back as Helmut Zemo, the villain from Civil War. Beside Thanos, it’s kinda safe to say that Zemo is one of the very few villains that actually got what he wanted and didn’t die in the end. This underrated Marvel villain was the one who framed Bucky for the bombing in Vienna that murdered King T’Chaka, Black Panther’s father. He was also the one who was responsible for dividing the Avengers by revealing the footage of Bucky Barnes’ mission to kill Tony Stark’s parents, making Steve and Tony fought each other. At the end of Civil War, T’Challa confronted him, making Zemo confessed that he was the one who murdered his father and also told him the reason why he did what he did; a revenge of what the Avengers did in Sokovia. Zemo was about to kill himself but thankfully, T’Challa stopped him and he’s currently in custody. That said, Zemo could’ve been released in the TV show or maybe escaped and hopefully, Zemo would be the main villain in this series.
4. Sam as the new Captain America
At the end of Avengers: Endgame, Steve gave Sam his shield after returning from his journey to return the stones and it was a clear message that Sam will be the next Captain America since Steve is retiring. However, I, personally, don’t think Sam will take the ‘Captain America’ title since the title of the show used ‘Falcon’. Maybe in this series, he will use Steve’s shield as an addition to his original Falcon uniform.
Even though we had to wait for a year for this series, I am pretty sure the wait will be very worth it because I think this series will have a lot of comedy and will be incredibly fun to watch.
