Mongolian rapper, Mrs. M recently dropped her first English track, “Tasty” and in just two months, it has skyrocketed to over 700k views on YouTube. The song is the latest single from Urban Asia Vol. 2, the second installment of a series of Asian hip-hop compilations released in a partnership between VIBE and the Hong Kong-based label B2 Music. The lead single off Vibe presents: Urban Asia. “Paint Me In God” features an all-star lineup, including LA artist, Mike Rebel, superstar T-Pain, and Chinese rapper Wang Yi Tai, of Rap of China fame. This single is an East-West pairing, representing all corners of the world, and sets the tone for the whole album which dropped in May. Vibe presents Urban Asia Vol.2 is following on the heels of the success of Vibe presents Urban Asia Vol. 1, which produced a No 1 hit in Mongolia for Mrs. M, along with four top-ten hits in China, including Chinese/K-pop superstar Jackson Wang’s smash hit Can’t Breathe.
Mrs. M shares, “I’m so excited to release my first English single “Tasty” and to work with NASTEE from Brooklyn’s Pro Era, and Silverstrike in Hong Kong. Growing up listening to Hip Hop and RnB music in Mongolia we never dreamed of such things! I sang and rapped in Mongolian because we are a small country, and I didn’t think we can go past that. We just make this music for ourselves. We only watch U.S. artists on YouTube and follow the new sounds, and never think we can be connected to places like Brooklyn. I really love the internet because it connected me to all of this.”
I had the opportunity to talk with Mrs. M about her debut English single, “Tasty” among other things.
For the readers who don’t know who you are, can you tell us a bit about yourself?
I’m a young artist who wants to keep growing and loving every minute and every second. I just wanna make fresh music.
What inspired you to start making music?
I can’t say exactly what inspired me, but watching my mother sing and perform was one. When I was a kid I was always creating songs out of thin air. I think it’s in my veins.
Who are your musical inspirations?
Erykah Badu! And great beatmakers that can make me move.
Talk to me about your first English single, “Tasty”. How was it working with nastee and silverstrike on this track?
It was very cool. It was my first time working with non-Mongolians, so I was very excited. Silverstrike is a super talented and friendly guy, and we connected right away. Working with nastee was just ‘Tasty’!
How were you introduced to Hip-hop?
Well, I started in a rock band, as a drummer. So the evolution was from rock to hip hop. I think I went through almost every type of music. But hip hop just touched me the most finally.
What made you fall in love with this genre?
You know, in Mongolia we don’t always get all the information, but the rappers keep it real. So this is a big way to keep people connected, and of course dancing!

What is the message you’d like to share with the music you make?
For myself, I want to keep it simple and about what inspires me, Mrs. M. I write about subjects that interest me, from personal fun things to deeper stuff, like society.
Do you have any upcoming news/plans you’d like to share?
I’m working on my next English single now, and then my EP for the fall. It’s Summer so lots of festivals here, I’ve been performing every week.
Any last thoughts?
Just that I’m so excited that “Tasty” is making some noise around the world. Also getting to work with real Hip-hop O.G.’s like nastee and pro era. I could never have imagined that. I love it!
