Let’s Meet OCKisDead
OCKisDead is a new upcoming rap artist from Flatbush, New York, currently residing in Queens. He infuses lyricism, melodies, and harmonies to create songs that he calls “vibes”. He plans on reintroducing meaningful lyrics in a way that makes you get up move. As he says, “It’s all about the energy, because if they can’t feel you, are they really feeling it?”
What inspires you to write music?
“My mind goes on forever so usually I can draw inspiration for anything in my everyday life. Most of the times, I’ll be doing something else entirely, like work or driving, while thinking up new lyrics”
Who is the biggest rap influencer to the music you write?
“Honestly, I try not to think of any rappers or singers when I make my songs because I feel like when you do, you’re limiting yourself per se. I don’t want to try and sound like somebody. I want to be my own entity so I guess my biggest rap influencer to me is myself.”
What makes you different from all the other rappers getting into the rap scene?
“I feel like my energy sets me apart, first and foremost. I’m not trying to bite off anybody’s wave so originality as well. Everybody wants to sound the same and I can’t understand it for real. Why do you want to sound like someone?”
What can we expect from you in the near future?
“Lots and lots of music. I’m about to drop 2 songs next week so stay tuned for that. I got a couple features coming up too. I have many songs in the vault. I’ve been just working and trying to perfect my craft. 2017 isn’t a year for playing and, trust me, you’re going learn this before I drop my tape.”
