For fans of the cult TV show American Horror Story, pretty much as soon as a season stops airing the next thing on their minds is what theme the show will take on for the next season. All the seasons feature true stories, and the creator, Ryan Murphy, has announced that the upcoming season will have more of a sci-fi feel, as it will be set in the near future (about 10-20 years from now).
Murphy said during a recent press tour, “All I’ll say about it is I want to go to the future — still topical, but the future, which I’ve never done.” Every other aspect of the season is being kept hush, as fans are left in the dark about the plot and who will actually be featured in it. Every year features an altered cast, but Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters have remained main characters in the franchise since it first started in 2011.
Twitter has also been in a frenzy, since there were rumors of a “Murder House” (season one) and “Coven” (season three) crossover, as they are two extremely favored seasons; Murphy has confirmed it to air in the near future, most likely meaning it will be the storyline of season nine.
“We’re working on it, but it’s not going to be the next season. Next season is season eight, and it’ll probably be the one after that.” He continues, “We’ve already met about it and outlined it, but it won’t be next, because some of the people are not available.”
No dates have been set for the upcoming season, but if it follows the trend of past seasons, it will most likely air near the end of this year.
