Sometimes, we all find ourselves in an emotional funk where we just aren’t feeling our best whether it be emotionally, physically or even both. When times like this come around, we may only need a little bit of music to help us get back in the swing of things. Here are some of my favorite songs to listen to when I’m in need of a pick-me-up.
This song, in particular, has helped me through tough times. “Someone told me, babe, when the tide is high, you just get low. Hold your breathe and take it slow. Yes, I might get wet, I might get thrown. But I’ll resurface all on my own.” Kehlani sings in the pre-chorus. When listening, “Be Alright” always manages to reaffirm me of the fact that things will always work out as they should.
Heatstroke – Calvin Harris (feat. Young Thug, Pharrell Williams and Ariana Grande)
A collab like this was destined to be amazing, and it sure delivers. “Heatstroke” is upbeat, buoyant, and carefree. Listening to this stellar collaboration is guaranteed to make you want to dance while uplifting your mood in the process.
19-year-old R&B singer Khalid definitely brings the good vibes in with this song. “Leave your sorrow on the table. Pick up your worries and throw them out the window. You don’t gotta let your friends know. There’s so much trouble to get into.” he sings. This song just exudes youthfulness and positivity, and will definitely help you to let loose.
Lust For Life – Lana Del Rey (feat. The Weeknd)
Lana Del Rey’s title track from her soon to be released album is the exact opposite of previously released song “Born To Die”. In “Lust For Life” Lana And Abel (The Weeknd) sing about their will to live and how much they crave that feeling of being alive. Their vocals are smooth, and compliment one another’s perfect. If you haven’t heard this song yet, I highly recommend you check it out.
Still Got Time – ZAYN (feat. PARTYNEXTDOOR)
Zayn Malik’s latest single “Still Got Time” is an upbeat record about being young and not worrying about trivial things, as you’ve still got time to sort out your troubles. He is joined by rapper and singer PARTYNEXTDOOR, and together they create the perfect carefree, summer anthem. This song also offers a taste of what Zayn’s next album will entail, which is also a bonus.
