The drama filled series based on the characters from Archie Comics became a sensation on the streaming platform Netflix busting up the ratings and helping it become one of the network’s greatest hits.
This darker Archie adaptation follows classic characters Archie Andrews (KJ Apa), Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart), Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse), Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes), and other students in Riverdale High School and their families as they navigate relationships and solve murder cases.
The first season was centered on the murder of one of Riverdale High’s students, Jason Blossom, and the investigation into what actually happened to him. Season 2, for now, has been focused on a killer called The Black Hood, who attempted to murder several Riverdale residents and succeeded in killing two. The Black Hood storyline has been resolved with a midseason twist, but it has been hinted that there is more to come.
There’s no official release date for season three but it was referred by some cast members that they will be returning to production on the month of July during a convention in Paris earlier this week. It’s also expected that the show comes back around October, around the same time as season two did for the network’s fall line up. There isn’t an official plot line either but we can anticipate that it will keep on becoming darker and darker each season.
