Sense8 is Back With A Special Two-Hour Finale

June 30, 20172 min read

Yes you read it right, Sense8 is back for a 2 hours finale to wrap up the cliffhangers in the last season.

The news was first broke by Sense8’s official twitter account with a special letter from the co-creator herself, Lana Wachowski. “The outpouring of love and grief that came in the wake of the news that Sense8 would not be continuing was so intense that I often found myself unable to open my own email,” she started the letter.

The news was later confirmed by Netflix’s Twitter account.

“As the characters in our show discover that they are not alone, I too have learned that I am not just a me. I am also a we,” she wrote, referring to the fans that also taking a big part of making Netflix picked the show again for a 2-hour finale.

This won’t be the first time Sense8 has aired a special 2-hour episode, On December 2016, Netflix aired a special 2-hour episode of Sense8 titled ‘Sense8 : A Christmas Special’ due to a nearly two-year gap between the first and the second season.

As it has said before, this would not have happened without ‘the war’ the fans waged against Netflix. The show itself has shown so much diversity and a really interesting storyline, thus making the fans disappointed when it got canceled. But, of course they didn’t just sit down and do nothing, with the support of the main cast, Brian J. Smith, the fans launched a petition and suddenly the #RenewSense8 movement began.

The fans were tweeting non-stop to the Netflix Twitter account begging for a renewal. Some threatened to cancel their subscriptions, while some already did! They were even making phone calls to Netflix’s customer services! Recently the fans  donated to The Trevor Project – an organization for LGBT youth, under the name of Sense8!

The new special 2-hour episode itself is planned to be released next year. We all can’t wait to see the continuation of The Sensates’ story!
