I was never a strong believer in the saying “everything happens for a reason.” To me, that did not make sense. Maybe everything in life was supposed to happen, but I didn’t think things were related to each other. Well, that is, until I met you. You, my friend, were something that could only happen for a reason, and a good one. About two years ago we met. We were both 15. We still had our little baby faces, and we were both so innocent in terms of the world and what it had to bring. At this time I was truly sad. There had been a person that I thought was special. I thought they saw me as special, too. It turns out that they just didn’t care enough to try. I was hurt by this, and it put me in this negative state of mind. I thought I wasn’t worth it, I thought no one cared about me. It was around this time you came along. I didn’t know you, or your intentions. We were paired next to each other in one of our classes. You had the gift of sweet talking, I mean you never were quiet! Me on the other hand, I was very shy. I didn’t talk much, and I hoped you didn’t notice this. As time went on, I became excited everyday when it was time to see you. Little did we both know, we were about to start a new adventure, a whole new chapter in the book of life. This chapter would be called “us.” In the chapter of us, every moment would be filled to the brim with some sort of emotion. Maybe we had just laughed until we couldn’t breathe, or maybe I cried about something that doesn’t matter anymore, but it did at the moment. We would go on crazy rendezvous, to the rope swing at the park or the tunnels filled with graffiti. We would experience those first words of “I love you” and “I need you in my life.” It’s guaranteed that every second was to be filled with entertainment. There have been ups, and there have been downs, but that is expected in any story. No matter what, we have filled this chapter with crazy memories and experiences that we will carry with us until we die. Your friendship and love has impacted me in ways I cannot even begin to describe. I look at you, and I know that everything in life makes sense. You have been the light in my darkness. You have taught me things about the world that I never realized before. Because of you, I now enjoy things I didn’t enjoy before, such as spicy food or the ukulele. Every time that I look into your eyes, I know I am exactly where I am supposed to be. Thank you for being my first great adventure. It is to be continued.
