According to E! News, the singer-actress stated, “’I couldn’t make it as an actress. I was bad at auditioning. I never got a job.”
However, Bradley Cooper served as a great director who helped Gaga live her childhood fantasy. In fact, Gaga had disclosed that Cooper had challenged her in ways that she never did before, and she was grateful for that.
Amidst all of Gaga’s doubts, her co-star admired her acting skills, which were exceptionally remarkable in the rising film.
“It’s all instinctual and I knew it when I met her. When I met her I felt like she was so soulful and deep and open and warm and caring and I thought, ‘God if I just could capture what I am seeing right now talking to her, then we’re going to be okay.’”
Cooper continued to praise Gaga by adding that he had never seen someone who works so hard and who is dedicated to the project. Even with her busy circadian routine, she still chose to sacrifice it, ensuring that she was able to show her maximum potential as well as rooting for the success of the film.

First Impressions Matter
First impressions do matter and it surely did with Cooper’s first encounter with Mother Monster. During the L.A. premiere on Monday, he openly revealed the first time he saw Gaga. She performed at a cancer benefit concert at Sean Parker’s House, singing the popular song La Vie en Rose. Enthralled with the angelic voice of Gaga, Cooper confessed that he envisioned her playing the role of Aly in A Star Is Born. As a result, the same song Gaga sang that night was used in the film when Jackson Maine first met Aly singing in a drag bar.
Cooper stated, “I was floored. I’d never heard her sing live before and then I went and met her, I think it was almost the next day. I was so taken with how warm and present and kind and generous she is. And then from that meeting, that was it. There was no movie without her.”

The Auditioning Stages and Pasta
It is incredibly comical to hear that food unifies people together, in this case, Gaga’s homemade pasta. During the process of Gaga’s audition to A Star Is Born, pasta evidently became a vital aspect in determining her role.
During Conan’s show on Monday, Cooper gave details that when he arrived at the singer’s house, he was ultimately hungry. Gaga, being a warm host, offered him some snack by telling him to look in her fridge. Cooper further expounded that she had pasta and reheated it, finally sitting together to eat the sumptuous meal. Cooper never felt so comfortable and in fact described the moment as “insane.”
That was just one part of the story as the duo continued talking about their jam session after eating the bowl of pasta. They sang their first duet of a famous folk song called Midnight Special.
“The next thing I know after I’m eating pasta, we’re singing in her living room. It was crazy and she said, ‘Has anyone ever heard you sing before?’ I said, ‘No’ and she said, ‘Well let’s record it.’ So I recorded it on my phone and that was actually one of the first things when I was trying to pitch this movie to Warner Brothers, I showed them that video.”
According to PEOPLE, Gaga discussed the special moment she had with Cooper in the kitchen.
“We had it in the fridge and when he came over I was heating it up for him in a pan, and before I knew it was two Italian Americans from the East Coast eating spaghetti together.”
As an Italian-American living in New York City, Gaga grew up having the fondness for food and immense bonding with her family. Therefore, in 2012, Joe and Cynthia (her parents), opened a restaurant called Joanne Trattoria.
Other than being a singer, an actress, and a cook, Gaga epitomized the definition of obstinacy in regards to fulfilling one’s ambitions. With hard work and persistence, it is absolutely possible for anyone to reach their dreams, just like the young Stefani Germanotta (Gaga’s real name) who dreamed to become an actress one day.
