5 Affordable Beauty Products You Need to Try!

September 9, 20175 min read

Everybody is always looking for good affordable makeup. Considering people are going back to school, college and university in the UK, not everybody can afford to splurge on high-end products, so here are my top 5 affordable beauty products! (Bonus: They’re all cruelty free.)

1: Sleek Makeup Solstice Highlighting Palette – £9.99

This versatile face and body highlighting palette suits all skin tones and includes two baked powders, one luxurious cream formula, and one silky shimmer powder.

This palette is amazing! I use this more than my Anastasia Beverly Hills glow kits. Everybody raved about this palette on YouTube so I caved and bought it and it is one of the best products I’ve ever used. It has a shade for everyone, since I am the palest person I know and the golden shade reflects white so it doesn’t leave a gold stripe on my cheek which is amazing for me (and other pale people). I go back to this time and again no matter what the occasion maybe. A must have if you’re not willing to pay the high price for ABH.

2: Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge – £5.99

Real Techniques by professional makeup artist Sam Chapman introduces its new innovative Miracle Complexion Sponge that will give you the pixel perfect flawless base you have always dreamed of.

Believe me when I say this is the best blending sponge I have ever used, I prefer this over my beauty blender because it’s that amazing. There is currently a sale at Superdrug for six of them for £16. I would suggest picking them up whilst they’re still on offer because they’re that good. They blend makeup flawlessly. Be it foundation, or concealer — they’ll work for you and you won’t be disappointed.

3: Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer – £4.19

Conceals imperfections and blemishes for up to 16 hours.

Now, I don’t know how true the claim is but you shouldn’t be wearing makeup for 16 hours anyway. Personally, I love this concealer and I use ‘fair’ which is still a little too dark for me so I only use it when I tan or use a darker foundation because it runs a little warm toned and oxidises, but it is a really good concealer. And it is high coverage. I find it performs best when I bake with it. If it came in a white/off white colour, I’d choose this over my Kat Von D concealer any day.

4: Makeup Revolution Ultra Contour Palette – £8.00

The complete contouring and highlighting palette is here! The ULTRA CONTOUR PALETTE has 8 powders for perfect contouring and sculpting. Including 8 brand NEW shades for contour and shaping, with an additional 2 of our favourite merged baked highlighters for illumination.

This palette is SO good, so blend-able and it has so much pigment. The highlight shades are incredible and the contour shades (I use the middle brown shade) are amazing too. They run a little warm toned so they look slightly off if you’re ghostly and pale like me but I still manage to use them well. I own a makeup geek contour pan and I still choose this palette over that.

A lightweight, full coverage foundation ideal for creating a flawless finish.

Developed to deliver seamless results every time, the PRO.Coverage HD Long Wear Illuminating Liquid Foundation is perfect for creating looks that last. The weightless, hydrating formula glides onto the skin imparting gentle hydration and incredible coverage so you can create radiant camera ready finishes whilst caring for your skin.

Now, this foundation to start off with, is a little too dark for me even in the lightest shade, they do offer a white foundation lightener which is good to have in general, but that sets you back another £11, so for £22 for both you may as well buy a high end foundation. Although it is a full coverage foundation and it works well, it is very ‘wet’ and needs to be set with a powder. Although I definitely do like this foundation and they offer shades for deeper complexions.
