5. Leslie Grace
Leslie Grace is a Latina from the Bronx who made her debut when she gave Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow by The Shirelles a mix of her own. The tropical salsa vibes landed her the number one spot on Billboard’s Tropical Songs in 2012. Since then, Young Grace has been charting Billboard with Duro y Suave featuring Noriel and radio hit Si Una Vez, which she featured in alongside Wisin and Frankie J for Play-N-Skillz version of Selena’s hit. Leslie Grace has three albums and one in the making; though there’s no word on when she’s releasing it. She can leave people wanting for more: whether it’s covers, soul, or tropical, Young Grace knows how to get people’s attention.
4. Karol G
The Columbian singer has been in the industry since 2014 with her joint song “Mañana” with Andy Rivera. However, Karol G didn’t hit mainstream until 2017. She released a song with Bad Bunny called “Ahora Me Llama” that holds 630 million views on Youtube. In 2018, she has become bigger than ever. Karol G released a banger called “Mi Cama”and a remix featuring J Balvin and Nicky Jam. Mi Cama Remix charted #6 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs. She also performed in the Billboard Latin Music Awards with Luis Fonsi and Paty Cantu for “Échame La Culpa.” Karol G teamed up with dua Mau y Ricky for Mi Mala. Unstoppable is her first album that was released last year. Karol G is a new incomer, but she knows what she wants and doesn’t second guess it.
3. Anitta
The Brazilian native is considered to be one of the biggest superstars in the country. Anitta’s love for her country reflects her music. She takes her background into her music. The Latin singer has released four albums since 2013 including Bang. However, Anitta hit mainstream recently. Anitta and J Balvin released “Downtown” in late 2017, and that has been playing on radio stations nationwide. Downtown’s highest peak was #10 for Billboard’s Latin Streaming Songs. The duo featuring Jeon released an electronic dance song “Machika” that hit #1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay. Anitta performed both songs in Premio Lo Nuestro 2018.
2. Natti Natasha
With just one album, Natti Natasha took over the music industry. The Dominicana charted a #1 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs with Don Omar for Dutty Love back in 2012. Along with Perdido “En Tus Ojos” on 2015. In 2017, she released a hit named Criminal with Ozuna which earned 1 million and counting on Youtube. The same year, Natasha and Daddy recorded “Otra Cosa.” The duo returned in 2018 for Buena Vida as promo song for Univision & Televisa’s La Piloto. 2018 is the year of features. Natti Natasha paired with Pop Latina Queen Thaila for “No Me Acuerdo” and Becky G’s hit “Sin Pijamas.” Natti Natasha also released Quien Sabe, which she performed gracefully in Premios Juventud. Despite being in features, Natti Natasha wowed the industry with “Quien Sabe.” She showed she can lead her own way.
1. Becky G
The Inglewood based artist came to be with her summer hit “Showers“ back in 2014. Though that wasn’t her start yet; she appeared on Cher Lloyd’s “Oath” in 2012. The following year, she debuted her first ep Play It Again. Since then she has performed in concerts, festivals, and award shows. Becky G transitioned to Latin Pop in 2016 with “Sola.” Though her transition didn’t lose followings, in fact, she gained fans. Her third Spanish song, “Mayores” featuring Bad Bunny hit the charts and radio stations. Mayores peaked #1 for Billboard’s Latin Airplay. Becky G also charted a #1 on Billboard’s Latin Pop Songs for Sin Pijama featuring Natti Natasha. Sin Pijama became one of the sexist songs released in 2018. The summer hit gained 800 million views on Youtube. Becky G followed with Mau y Ricky on “Mal de la Cabeza” and featured in their Mi Mala remix. After two years, Becky G returned to English music with Zooted that features French Montana and Farruko. Recently, she featured in Paolo Londra’s “Cuando Te Besé.” Fans are anticipating the release of her new sophomore album, which will be in Spanglish. She’s got both industries wrapped around her finger.
