November 12, 20194 min read

As the winter months make their way upon us, several things happen. For starters, the world gets darker a lot faster. The days are suddenly cut short as though with a pair of scissors and we are left in darkness fairly early. Second, the outside world grows colder. We finally put away our favorite summer ‘fits in exchange for bulky sweaters and comfortable sweatpants. Third, the music changes drastically. Whether you find yourself listening to more somber songs during the winter months or something a bit upbeat to keep you on your toes, this winter playlist is sure to meet all of your needs.

1. “The Painter” by Bad News Club

This dreamy song will have you wanting to cozy up by the fire with your one true love. Or, even better: it will make you want to write a love letter to the soul you love the most. The artist’s somber voice will surely put you in a trance as he croons on about love and brokenness. Turn this song on as the winter sky darkens and gives way to enchanting shades of pinks, purples, and blues—this is what this song looks like.

2. “Maniac” by Conan Gray

Stuck inside on a snow day? Or does the gloomy weather have you feeling in a rut? Conan Gray’s “Maniac” will have you spinning and dancing up a storm as the snow falls outside. You may even want to give yourself a chance at mastering Conan’s own popular dance moves from the music video. “Maniac” is an upbeat track with an unforgettable chorus that will pull you right out of that slump.

3. “Lights Up” by Harry Styles

This song is a masterpiece. Styles tackles a new genre in anticipation for his upcoming sophomore album debuting on December 13. “Lights Up” is an undoubtedly catchy song that will have you grooving around your room.  Actually, it will have you singing and dancing around the entire house. It’s also a great track to accompany you on any spontaneous winter walks that you go on.

4. “Graveyard” by Halsey

Halsey’s “Graveyard” is the perfect mix between soul wrenching and undeniably captivating. Whether you feel like taking this song for a skate through the ice rink or turning it on while you frost holiday cookies, “Graveyard” is the ideal track to have on your playlist this winter.

5. “Dreams of William” by Daughter

The intro to this song will make you feel as though you have just stepped foot into a wintry wonderland. In fact, you don’t even need to pretend. Simply pop in your headphones and experience this song outside as snowflakes begin to fall from the sky. Vocalist Elena Tonra’s voice is simply angelic as she sings about lost love and growing as a person. This beautiful song perfectly balances the mix between instruments and vocals, creating a genius masterpiece.

Now, what are you waiting for? Go ahead and add these tracks to your winter playlist!
