Logan Paul, Diddy And Other Celebrities Need To Stop Forgetting Who Made Them Rich

December 17, 20173 min read

I’ve noticed it’s become a trend that as soon as someone comes up on some money, the first thing they do is “forget” that others work regular jobs. Money definitely seems to make celebrities lose touch with reality and, whether unintentional or malicious, they continuously sh*t on the same people who make them all the money they have.

The first example comes from rapper legend. Diddy:

Although Diddy didn’t mean any harm in this intended inspirational post, many people took offense to it:

The second example comes from YouTube sensation, Logan Paul:

Lastly, the third example comes from the boss himself, Rick Ross:

Dear Diddy,

It’s true we have the same 24 hours, but as criticizers have already stated, we do not have the same money or access to resources. It’s true we have the same 24 hours, but some of us go to school for at least 8 of those hours, study for even more hours, work for even more hours, and sleep for even less. It’s true we have the same 24 hours, but we’re not Diddy.

Dear Logan Paul,

People need to sleep because, well, they have to wake up early in the morning to go to school or work. You were going to college to become an engineer. I’m sure you, out of all people, can appreciate sleep. How come all of a sudden you come up on YouTube and forget the lives your viewers, such as myself, an engineering student, live?

Dear Rick Ross,

9-5s pay your bills and made you rich. The people who purchase your music and tickets to your concerts work 9-5 jobs to afford those things. They work 9-5 jobs and, consequently, afford your lifestyle. Don’t forget that.

Overall, I completely understand that, in all of these examples, the celebrities were just trying to be motivational. However, they fail to understand the other predicaments that their many supporters face. Only once they realize this will they be able to give beneficial advice such as, “Grind the hardest you can in your current situation,” “Those all-nighters will be worth it in the end. Keep your head up” and “Systematic racism keeps money, power, and resources away from people of color, but do your best.” And if we as consumers see someone we’ve afforded an extravagant lifestyle maliciously try to sh*t on us, we need to collectively help them jog their memories of where they get their money from by not supporting them. Because they need to realize that working a 9-5 job is nothing to be ashamed of and nothing we should be shamed for.
