The holiday season is officially here and one of the most talked about beauty products is the Fenty Beauty Stunna Lip Paint in the shade “Uncensored” AKA the perfect universal red. Now I understand that to most people $24 isn’t necessarily breaking the bank but I also know that not everyone has the extra cash to drop on the perfect shade of red for the winter season. Lucky for you I’ve compiled a list of five shades of red that can all be found at drugstores or are within that price range and pretty much get the job done. I’ve tried these all first hand and I can honestly say that these are as close to a true red as you can get.
1. Milani Amore Matte Lip Crème in “Devotion”
Price: Between $7 and $8
Pictures don’t do this color justice, every single time I wear it I get asked about what’s on my lips. The color payoff in any Milani Lip Crèmes are incredible for the price. You really can’t beat it. Also, keep a lookout for sales as CVS and other drugstores usually have a “buy one get one 50% off” deal.
2. Colourpop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick in “Arriba”
Colourpop is loved by many because of the quality, price points and collabs. The brand teamed up with b beauty guru iluvsarahii and came up with a crimson red liquid lipstick named “Arriba.” However, do wear chapstick or some sort of lip moisturizer before applying because I find that most Colourpop liquid lipstick formulas tend to be extremely drying.
Price: $6
3. NYX Liquid Suede Lipsticks in “Cherry Skies”
Price: $6.99
NYX is known for their amazing lipstick formulas. Their liquid suede lipstick in “Cherry Skies” is a little less red than the rest as it has a bit of purple undertones. Still, a vampy red lip is holiday appropriate.
4. Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink Lip Color in “Voyager”
Price: $8 to $9
5. Revlon ColorBrust Matte Balm in “Standout”

Price: $5 to $7
This lipstick holds a special place in my heart because it was one of the first lippies I bought when I first started wearing makeup. I couldn’t afford MAC’s iconic “Ruby Woo” so I looked for affordable dupes and this was one of the common ones listed online. “Standout” is very true to its name, it’s bright red is guaranteed to make you stand out.
