Ever since she was little, Abigail Rose knew she was destined to be a musician. It’s no surprise the Nashville native was entertaining crowds before she could walk, and now, at 21-years-old, the artist is at the forefront of Music City’s pop scene. The perfect mix of pop and modern hip-hop, Rose’s music is making waves across all genres. Not only does she hook her audience with a hauntingly deep voice and heart-wrenching lyrics, but Rose’s stand-out style has labeled her a fashion icon.
In honor of her newest single, “The Risk,” I got to the bottom of what exactly is it about Rose that makes her music and style so addicting.
Talk a little about your new song “The Risk”? It just came out Friday the 23rd! What was the inspiration and what does the release mean to you?
Yess ahhh, I can’t believe it’s finally out! The inspiration for the song came when I first started to truly understand what it meant to be emotionally vulnerable with someone. One of my favorite quotes,“Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all,” also helped to inspire the song. That’s basically what the whole song is about, even though you might get hurt when you open up with someone, the risk is still worth it. This release means everything to me, music is meant to be shared, so I’m very happy to finally be able to do that.
2. What inspired you to pursue music? Did you always know that’s what you wanted to do?
I’ve always been passionate about music since a very young age…my family says around 2 I started putting my own words to melodies of songs I heard. I would sing anywhere, for anyone that would listen, and if I couldn’t find anyone I would line my dolls & teddy bears up on the stairs & put on shows for them. I would say that growing up in Nashville is probably one of the biggest reasons why I found my passion for music, especially at such a young age. So yes, I pretty much always knew music was what I was meant to do!
3. What are your biggest sources of inspiration?
I grew up listening to a lot of Billy Joel, Simon & Garfunkel, Elvis Presley, and Fleetwood Mac. Luckily my parents have good taste in music. My more recent musical inspirations would be Chet Faker, Banks, Oh Wonder, Kehlani, and Frank Ocean, just to name a few. I also get a lot of my inspiration from movies actually. Especially 80’s movies, with the brat pack. If I’m ever feeling stuck, I just watch a movie & feel instantly re-inspired
4. What’s it like being a pop artist in Nashville, TN? What made you decide Nashville instead of somewhere with a bigger pop culture, like LA?
Endless possibilities. Nashville’s pop scene is rapidly evolving and I’m excited to contribute to the potential it holds. The short answer, I don’t want to leave! I love Nashville so much. I’ve lived here my entire life & although I sometimes come & go, this will always be my home. My favorite part about living in Nashville is probably all the friends & family I have here. I’m lucky to have a great community of people surrounding me.
5. We saw some of your amazing outfits on Instagram! Talk a little about how you work to integrate that aspect of yourself into your music! Can we expect to see a music video, featuring some of your rad outfits, for “The Risk” coming out soon?
Ahh thank you, I really love fashion & how you can use what you wear to say something about yourself. As an artist, anything I do or wear is a representation of who I am, and that’s very important to me, so I try to always make sure that whatever I wear represents me how I want it to. Yes, indeed you actually can, very very soon. I won’t give away too many details yet, but I’m really excited for everyone to see the music video for “The Risk.” I styled the outfits myself, and a lot of detail went into everything I’m wearing. I purposely only wore pieces from small brands & stores exclusively from Nashville, with the exception of 1 or 2 things. Some of the pieces I even made. I can tell you one thing for sure, everything you see me in has a story behind it.
6. Where can people find more of your work?

7. Are you working on any other exciting, forthcoming projects that you want people to know about?
More new music is on the way, but in the meantime, I’m focused on revamping my live show & making it something really exciting & worth coming to see. I love performing so much & I can’t wait to be back on stage. To find out exact dates just make sure to follow me on social media!
8. Do you have any advice for aspiring artists in the field?
Always be authentic. No matter what be true to yourself because if not people will either not believe it so you won’t get very far, or they will believe it but then you’re stuck being a fake version of yourself.
9. How has your success story panned out?
Making plans for life is tricky enough in general, but especially in the music business because there’s no one way of doing things or a blueprint to success… a lot of it is paving your own path, which is scary but also exhilarating!
10. Are you happy with your “style?”
Yes, so so happy. Obviously, as an artist, you’re constantly evolving but I really love where I’m at right now. You should want to listen to your own music because if you don’t like it, who will? I’m not ashamed to admit I jam out to my own music in my car all the time.
11. Any last thoughts?
This is JUST the beginning & I can’t wait to keep sharing more! So stay tuned!!!
