Earlier this week on International Women’s Day, Riverdale stars Camila Mendes and Lili Reinhart took to Instagram to slam the Philippine version of Cosmopolitan for altering their bodies on the cover of their March issue.
The pair were originally photographed for an interview in the U.S version of the magazine but the pictures were reused for the cover of the Philippines edition.
On Thursday, Reinhart published a series of Instagram Stories comparing the photos used on each cover and how they changed the photos.
Mendes also published on her story and directed fans to Reinhart’s profile.
This is not a new experience for Reinhart who has taken down body shamers in May last year:
Thank you so much for being concerned about my weight, I'll respond later after I finish my double cheeseburger 😘 https://t.co/5FVhso3VOl

Mendes has also been open about body image, talking about her past struggles with eating disorders:

She shared that is why she decided to call out Cosmopolitan Philippines, remarking the fact that she thought it was “sad” that they felt the need to “slim our bodies down” because she and Camila are “beautiful as is” and don’t need to be fixed.
Reinhart took the opportunity to spread a positive message saying that “like every other day, women should go kick some ass” since they’re “strong and sensational”.
She also thanked the U.S edition of the magazine for not altering their bodies in their magazine.
Lastly, called out other celebrities for using Photoshop since that “it’s only encouraging an unrealistic body image and it’s adding to the problem. It’s an everyday battle, sometimes. And to see our bodies become so distorted in the editing process is a perfect example of the obstacles we have yet to overcome.”
