Demi Lovato Is Making Music Again?!

June 26, 20194 min read

Demi Lovato’s career has been a rocky one, to say the least. She became famous at the age of just 15 with her breakthrough role in Camp Rock. Lovato later said that being a child star was “very difficult”, which is understandable: adolescence and puberty are hard enough without the eyes of the world on you.

Lovato struggled with her mental health and used drugs and alcohol to self-medicate. She also had an eating disorder and, during her first stint in rehab, was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Her entire management team threatened to leave her when her cocaine addiction became too difficult to deal with. This made Lovato give up her phone and move into a sober house in 2013 to prevent a relapse.

She talked candidly about her struggles with addiction for the first time in her 2017 YouTube documentary, Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated. In the documentary, she also talks about her relationship with Wilmer Valderrama and revealed that she is still struggling with her eating disorder. A happier revelation was that Lovato is “open to a human connection”, whether it’s with guys or girls.

Lovato celebrated 6 years of sobriety on March 15th, 2018. However, addiction is a constant internal battle, and it takes so much energy to remain strong. Three months later, she released “Sober” in which she revealed that she had relapsed and lost a battle. Then on July 24th, TMZ reported that Lovato had been rushed to hospital after overdosing on heroin. She was hospitalized for almost two weeks and then in rehab for three months.

Since coming out of rehab, Lovato has been focusing on herself and her friends and family. Lovato has since deleted her Twitter account, but in December, she wrote this: “If I feel like the world needs to know something, I will tell them MYSELF. Otherwise, people stop writing about my recovery because it’s no one’s business but mine. I am sober and grateful to be alive and taking care of ME.” She also told her fans this: “All my fans need to know is I’m working hard on myself, I’m happy and clean and I’m SO grateful for their support.”

In May, Lovato announced via her Instagram that Scooter Braun, who also manages Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber, would be her new manager. She said of the new partnership, “Couldn’t be happier, inspired and excited to begin this next chapter with you Scooter!!!” Then a few days ago, she posted a photo of herself in the studio with the caption “Making magic” on her Instagram. Many fans have taken this to mean she is making music again and they are very excited.

We are looking forward to Demi Lovato’s seventh studio album and are sending her all the strength in the world to continue her sobriety.

I come from Cardiff, which is in the UK. Writing is one of my greatest passions, I just feel so happy when I'm writing. Camila Cabello and New Hope Club are my favourite artists. Tom Holland would be my favourite actor if he hadn't made me cry so much in Avengers: Infinity War! I am also a strong believer in equal rights for everyone, as I have a physical disability.
