They’ll Be There For You, On Stage — Friends! The Musical Is Coming This Fall

June 11, 20173 min read

Central Perk isn’t the only place you can catch Rachel Green, Chandler Bing, Phoebe Buffay, Monica Geller, Joey Tribianni, and Ross Geller. You can catch them on stage — well, a parody of them. That’s right, a parody of the famously well-known TV series known as Friends is becoming an off-broadway musical this fall known as Friends! The Musical.

Though this off-broadway musical isn’t affiliated with the offical NBC show and won’t star any of the original cast, this is a broadway production any major Friends fan won’t want to miss. The masterminds behind this off-broadway production go by the names of Bob and Tobly McSmith. You might be familiar with some of their other musical parodies such as Full House, Saved By The Bell, and Katdashians! The Musical.

Tolby McSmith told Entertainment Weekly:

Not only do we poke fun and celebrate the show, we also get some jokes in about the actor’s lives.. Oh and there will be a smelly cat, there will be Janice, and there will be Fat Monica.. We want all the alumni of Friends to come to the show and possibly be in it for a night or two — our first call is to the agent of Marcel the Monkey.”

A list of a some songs that will be performed at the musical were released:

“The Only Coffee Shop in New York City”
“45 Grove Street — How Can We Afford This Place?”
“How You Doing, Ladies?” — Joey
“Hey Ugly Naked Guy Who Lives Across the Street!”
“We Were On a Break!”
“I’m Gonna Hump U” — Marcel
“Oh. My. God. It’s Janice!” — Janice
“Will They or Won’t They” — Ross and Rachel
“The Ballad of Fat Monica”
“Could I BE Anymore…..in Love with Monica” — Chandler
“The One Where We Make a Million Dollars An Episode”
“We’ll Always Be There For You”

This production will be premiering at The Triad Theatre in New York City, tickets will be available starting this month on the off-broadway’s official website. You can even enter a draw to win tickets to their opening night by filling out a form that simply asks for your email!
