SM Entertainment recently revealed that their renowned boy group EXO is currently filming a music video for their upcoming comeback.
The news of EXO filming the music video spread like wildfire and their millions of fans, known as EXO-Ls, were filled with joy and excitement. The last time fans received new songs from EXO was in their special winter album Universe, which was released at the end of 2017. However, EXO’s last comeback was July of 2017 as the album The War and a repackaged album (a previously released album with new songs or alterations) were released two months later in September.
In an article released by Naver regarding EXO’s preparations for their upcoming comeback, it mentions that both this year’s regular and repackaged album will be released at the same time. This has left EXO-Ls feeling ecstatic as they have waited over a year for a new album and comeback from EXO. The fact that they will be getting technically two albums at once has brought them an array of emotions.
The wait for EXO’s return has been a long one, and although the date for the comeback and promotions have yet to be announced, the fans are already eagerly awaiting. With regards to this comeback, there is no official report on whether Yixing Zhang (also known as “Lay”) will be a part of it but there are reports by Korean media outlets, that this comeback will be a “full-lineup comeback” which has led to fans suspecting and praying that Lay will be apart of this comeback.
It was announced by SM Entertainment via Naver that Lay, will be releasing his third full album titled, NAMANANA, in the United States in October, which will contain 22 tracks with a combination of Chinese and English language. EXO-Ls are ecstatic about the news of Lay releasing a full album but this has left them wondering if the rumor of a “full-lineup” is true or false. Regardless, if Lay is apart of the upcoming comeback or not, millions of fans from all over the world promise to support him in his endeavors and support his upcoming album.

A comeback is the release of a new single, mini album or album from a Korean musician, however, this term is widely used amongst K-Pop groups and a comeback includes the group or artist promoting their title track on various music shows. The countdown to a comeback for a K-Pop group is an emotional roller-coaster for the fandoms of K-Pop groups. Idols work very hard to prepare new comebacks for their fans, practicing choreography, recording, and filming the accompanying music video for months before the release. As such, they release teaser videos, photos, and so much more for the fans to enjoy before the official thing is dropped. K-Pop groups also change their image to fit their new album theme which is known as a “concept.” Concepts can vary wildly over the course of a group’s career. The concepts are most notable through the music videos and stage performances.
With each comeback, fans are introduced to a new era of music. In this case, EXO-Ls also have the goal of trying to top their current record of 8.8 million views and over 800,000 likes in twenty-four hours on the music video of their title track “Ko Ko Bop” and set new records. After news broke of EXO filming their music video for their upcoming comeback, #EXO_ComingSoon became the sixth most trending Twitter topic worldwide.

The anticipation regarding this comeback is like never before. However, on September 19th, EXO members Baekhyun and Sehun played PlayerUnkon’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) on SM Super Idol League, with special guest Chen. The three joked about their comeback getting being canceled, upsetting some fans. There is no official statement on whether or not this comeback is actually canceled, and the majority of EXO-L’s believe the three members were teasing the fandom as they know they have been anticipating a comeback from them for a while. Nevertheless, SM has already stated officially that EXO is currently filming their music video as of September 12th for their upcoming comeback, reminding fans that a comeback is in the works for EXO.
EXO-Ls are determined like never before and excited for this comeback that will be coming soon after this long wait. The countdown for this comeback has already started, and they are prepared like never before.
