Glimpse of Spain

August 27, 20172 min read

Spain is an overwhelmingly beautiful country. With its architecture, history and culture, it swept me off my feet. I received a scholarship to study abroad in Madrid for four weeks over the past summer where I immersed myself into Spanish culture and daily life with Spanish classes and strolls through the city centre. From celebrating World Pride in the barrio of Chueca to eating heavenly empanadas in the barrio of Chamberí, experiencing Spain in the shoes of a local was life changing. Apart from Madrid, I also visited Segovia (fun fact: Alcázar de Segovia, the Segovian castle, was actually Walt Disney’s inspiration for Cinderella’s castle) and Valencia, a coastal city by the Mediterranean Sea. It was a truly unforgettable experience that I was able to enshrine in a plethora of photos. All photos were taken on an iPhone 7.
