Meet Shadowhunters’ Jordan Kyle.

January 15, 20184 min read

I’m sure many of you reading this have seen, or at least, have heard of Shadowhunters. The show follows Clary Fray has just enrolled at Brooklyn Academy of Arts. On her eighteenth birthday, she learns that she is a Shadowhunter: a human born with angelic blood whose job is to protect humans from demons. That night, Clary’s mother, Jocelyn, is abducted by a group of rogue Shadowhunters called the Circle. Their leader is Jocelyn’s ex-husband, Valentine Morgenstern. The show has 2 seasons out and they start shooting the second half of the third season this month.

In last year’s NYCC the show’s producers gave us a little teaser of what to expect for the third season, Shadowhunters revealed that its third season would be loosely based on the fourth book The Mortal Instruments series: City of Fallen Angels and would also include a fan favorite from the books: Jordan Kyle. You might have heard the name Jordan before in the show. He was mentioned in last season as Maia Roberts’ abusive ex-boyfriend and the person who turned her into a werewolf.

On the 15th of January, Entertainment Weekly revealed the first looks of Simon and Jordan and introduced Chai Hansen to the show. As fans of the books know, Simon and Jordan become friends and even roommates, despite the fact that Jordan has a secret. However, it’s not confirmed the show will follow the book’s plot line. “Jordan comes into Simon’s life in a fun, unexpected way,” showrunners Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer tell EW. “The two instantly hit it off, but we soon find out there’s a lot more to Jordan than meets the eye, and repercussions that affect more than just Simon.”

The Shadowhunters twitter page started by tweeting a video of Alberto Rosende (Simon), introducing the new cast member assuring that they’ll be “bros” on the show as well as in real life, they even fail at attempting a handshake.

Freeform also posted a video message from the actor to the fans of the show. “I’m super stoked about this” Hansen said, “I consider myself so lucky to be a part of this amazing show with the talented cast and crew.” He added.

Entertainment Weekly released two pictures of Chai’s character, Jordan, and Simon Lewis when they first meet. The two are seen normally talking and shaking hands.

Of course, the crew and the cast members have been showing their excitement, love and support about the news on their social media. Katherine McNamara (who plays Clary Fray) was the first cast member to tweet about the news, followed by Anna Hopkins, who will be playing Lilith in the upcoming season.

The artist shared the news on his social media as well saying he’s over the moon to be joining the show.

In case you haven’t watched it yet, Shadowhunters is available worldwide to stream on Netflix, Hulu and on Demand. And the third season premieres on March 20th on Freeform.

it's unlikely you'll find me outside. I usually carry a book around or simply just sit in front of a screen, reading, writing or maybe watching a movie. i'm a sucker for the LGBTQ+ community, poetry and literature. Oh and i'm 18.
