Sardinia in Paris: Georges Hobeika’s Spring/Summer 20 Collection

January 25, 20205 min read

Georges Hobeika delivered a wave of tropical desire while presenting his new Spring/Summer 2020 collection at Paris Fashion Week. The Chaillot Théâtre National de La Danse held fashion enthusiasts and celebrities to witness a mesmerizing collection inspired by the beaches of Sardinia, Italy. The setting of the show including the music, the sways of the models across the runway and the awes of the audience set the mood to paradise.

Georges Hobeika graciously inverted details of Sardinia into the runway. Each look has a unique 3-D floral attached across the bodily figure. The flowers are appealing by the lively texture of a sunrise hue as seen in the first photo. The mini dress is accompanied by the bright tropical tones of yellow, pink and teal. The teal bow dramatically completes the look into a whole. The floral arrangements on the other photos attract the eye as the designs are embellished with colorful rhinestones. The white silk fringe skirt sways upon the runway differ from the other looks by the casual color against the vivid floral. The two-piece blends with floral arrangements yet the placement of the flowers impact the look as it is placed on the shoulders. The exhibition of the flowers influenced the collection and the imagination of the audience. The coordination of the apparel made it my favorite looks of the collection.

There is nothing more Sardinian than sun hats on a beach day. Hobeika vividly lightens the mood into relaxation with silk fringe sun hats into three different attires. The off-white sunhat complimented the cut-out silk fringe skirt as well as the beaded fuse of white and yellow tones. The exposure of the teal feathered skirt became my favorite outcast of the collection. The single color allures the crystal top which makes the sleeves go unnoticed. The thin silver belt holds the yellow tulle and the sunset skirt into place. The out cuts of the skirt blend into the hues of the sunset of Sardinia. The sun hats show how Hobeika pays attention to the details of locals and tourists in Sardinia.

Hobekia shows the whimsical, dreamy side of Sardinia through the hazy gowns. Pastel colors mesmerized the audience into the awe of glamorous fantasies that swept the catwalk. The gowns not only differ from each other by the color, but the upper bodice design which captures the threading in clear motion. In a combination of yellow, purple, blue, green, pink and salmon tulles, the knitted top is presented in diagonal, angled and curved lines. The ethereal elements of the pastel gowns flow freely into the production showcasing the variety of beauty in Sardinia.

To close the collection, Georges Hobeika embroidered a magnificent bridal gown to showcase the audience. The boat neckline is swept with an alignment of silver rhinestones. The slim mermaid silhouette is covered by a mountain of gold and silver gemstones carefully alined to the center of the body. An additional skirt is attached at the hips of the gown creating a dramatic enhancement to the collection. The bedazzled neckline pulled the gown together making it unique and outstanding.

Georges Hobeika created a beacon of scintillating amusement that unfolded pastel textures, ombré features and summers hues. Sardinia became a feeling of relaxation in a single motion of the runway show. Hobeika’s spring/summer 2020 collection is a glistening paradise at Paris Fashion Week.
