23-year-old Stranger Things star, Charlie Heaton was allegedly caught with cocaine at a Los Angeles Airport. The actor was flying to the U.S. to attend a launching premiere for the second season of Netflix’s Stranger Things — Heaton’s character is named Jonathan Byers in the show.
Law enforcement reported that they placed a random baggage check involving sniffer dogs which had uncovered him with the trace amounts of the substance. U.S. border officials denied Heaton of accessing entrance into the country and deported him back to London.
The incident obviously caused him to miss the launch party for the second season of the show. Considering that Heaton does not have a record, he was able to withdraw from the country and avoid being arrested
Reports claim: “He was not arrested. He was held at the airport for a while and then put back on a plane to London that night. If you are a foreign national and it is a large amount of drugs you may be charged.”
“But if it is personal use, the consequences are that you will not be allowed into the country. US law is very strict on this.’”
There is no word on whether Heaton will be allowed to enter the U.S. anytime soon. When traveling to a foreign country, rules and guidelines are raised to a higher regulation. How countries deal with the transportation of drugs vary depending on the circumstances, however, the consequences are consistently harsh.
With that said, it will be very hard for Heaton to return to the country considering there might be a travel ban placed on him. This will make it hard it the actor to continue taking part in the filming of Stranger Things.
No word from anybody reliable has been released on whether Heaton will continue with the show or not due to the incident at hand.
