The Broken

August 8, 20171 min read

I wrote this poem when I was dealing with depression. Writing down my feelings has helped me tremendously. The poem is describing depression in metaphors.

Life stifled the broken
Agitation rose upon them
They were pushed into the ocean
But didn’t know how to swim
Suffocation overtook their inhales
And panic made its home in their eyes
It’s a state of oblivious strangulation
But with no contentment in sight
Their scars opened a little more
But they forgot how to welcome pain
It’s unfelt misery and empty hearts
