He also maintains a gaming channel he shares with his flatmate and best friend Philip Lester. Phil also operates three channels. Together, the duo known as Dan and Phil, have changed lives worldwide. The two participated in the Stand Up To Cancer campaign, symbolized by an orange upward arrow, in the United Kingdom to raise money for cancer awareness and research. To raise money for the campaign the two recorded and promoted their comedic single titled “The Internet Is Here”. The single was released on YouTube, iTunes, and Google Play on the 12th of October in 2016. The song was received with massive support from the Dan and Phil community and debuted at #37 on iTunes in the United States as well as charting in the United Kingdom, United States, Germany, Italy, Canada, Spain and Australia.

The two gracious youtubers took part in a livestream with one hundred other youtubers that compiled, is equivalent to 1000 hours of fundraising. Over $241,000 was raised through #StandUpWithYouTube.

When asked about his contribution to the livestream Howell responded, “It was an immense four hours and it’s been incredible to get together with all these talented and passionate creators to raise money for vital research. We are grateful to all of the fans for raising so much money for Stand Up To Cancer to help kick cancer’s butt!” Phil added, “We are just so glad to have been part of such an epic event to raise money for research that will save lives! 1 in 2 of us will be diagnosed with cancer in our lifetime, and the money we raise now will fund the heroic scientists who are working so hard every day to beat cancer.”
Their impact spans far beyond their charity single and contributions to #StandUpWithYouTube. The two embarked on The Amazing Tour Is Not On Fire, commonly known by its acronym TATINOF, during October of 2015. The tour accompanied their recently released and critically acclaimed book The Amazing Book Is Not On Fire. During the tours stent, which ended on December 6th, 2016, the two toured the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, Dublin, Ireland, and Stockholm.

Fans of Dan and Phil had the opportunity to watch them perform funny skits and even meet them. The two are notorious for being incredibly kind to their fans, signing incredibly personalized autographs, and posing in a variety of ways in order to make sure their fans have an experience they will not forget.

Due to the popularity of their first book and the massive amount of photos they took during their tour, the two released a second book titled Dan and Phil Go Outside which was accompanied by a two-stop event called Dan and Phil Go Outside On Stage Event, known by its acronym DAPGOOSE. DAPGOOSE took place in London and Los Angeles and provided yet another life changing, rewarding experience for Dan and Phil fans.
