Makeup Review: Coloured Raine Matte Lip Paint

April 5, 20173 min read

If you take a look at my name, it should be easy for you to figure out why I took an interest in Coloured Raine. Having grown up with an uncommon name, I never had the opportunity to find keychains, Coke bottles or magnets with “Raine” on them. So, when I found out there was a makeup brand featuring the name “Raine”, I definitely got excited and started making a wish list. But right now, we’re not discussing names. Instead, I will be discussing makeup and reviewing Coloured Raine’s Matte Lip Paint.

Coloured Raine is a small brand, which sells eyeshadows, false eyelashes, nail polish, lip lacquers (lipgloss), and their famous Matte Lip Paint (liquid lipstick).

I instantly fell in love with their Lip Paints. They carry your typical lipstick colors, such as pinks, reds and nudes, but they also have unique colors, such as green, blue and even black. Not feeling bold enough to pull off black lipstick, I played it safe by purchasing Amazing Raine, a bright pink color which I will be reviewing today. Below, I’ve provided a swatch (albeit messy) on my wrist.

When I first applied the lipstick, I noticed how sheer the color was. Fortunately, it’s easy to build up, and I was happy with the result. The formula dries pretty quickly, and, as promised, is a nice, non-drying matte finish.

Coloured Raine’s website promises their Lip Paints will not wear off unless it’s removed with an oil-based product. For the most part, this is correct. Unfortunately, this also means having to re-apply after eating greasy foods. That’s not a problem, however, since it’s simple enough to re-apply. You don’t have to have a fancy makeup remover to take it off either. When taking it off, I usually grab a spoon, take a tiny amount of coconut oil, and wipe it on my lips. After rubbing it off with a wet washcloth, the lipstick will be gone.

As someone who mainly uses drugstore products, Coloured Raine was my first dip into higher-end makeup. With their Lip Paint prices ranging from $10-17, it may seem quite steep for you. I, personally, will mainly be buying these products for occasional “treat yourself” moments I have. However, from using Amazing Raine for the past few weeks, I have not been disappointed, and feel it’s worth the price.

The best part of all this is that Coloured Raine is cruelty-free, vegan, gluten-free and does not contain any parabens. If you’re looking for a good lipstick but don’t want to spend your money on Kylie Lip Kits or MAC, I definitely recommend Coloured Raine.
