Music is undoubtedly an important part of our lives. It is there for us when we’re feeling happy, sad or when our feelings are uncertain. With music, we turn our best moments into something even more remarkable and, basically, make our lives better. Generally speaking, we do listen to a lot of music, right? But… is there more to it? Are we missing out on something more?
It’s common to hear the same hit songs and mainstream music around us: on the radio, at parties, while hanging out with friends… It becomes repetitive. But don’t get me wrong! I’m by no means against mainstream music! I do listen to a lot of it myself and I know it can be of extremely good quality. However, there are a lot of other songs which are also of an extremely good quality that doesn’t get as much attention as the ones we are used to listening to more regularly.
Having said that, it doesn’t take an expert to understand that getting started in the music industry and succeeding is not an easy path. Often the most talented artists don’t get the recognition they deserve. And, in some way, that is something to do with us. Many music artists are not given a chance by the general public simply because they aren’t already popular and successful, because they don’t have hit songs, because they don’t have many fans. What some people don’t understand is that these things don’t mean they’re not talented.
If people were more open-minded and willing to give a shot to new things they would certainly find much more quality content. Maybe some unknown music artists don’t even want to be famous at all. Maybe they are happy just by doing what they like. Maybe all they want is somebody to appreciate their art, even if only one person does. And if there’s at least one person out there who they can connect with through their music… maybe that is enough for them. Regardless of how far these artists want to go, they deserve to be given a chance. You can be the next person to do so. There are lots of genuinely talented singers out there, you just have to look around. Search for new music and different genres, ask for song suggestions… Today can be the day you find your new favorite song and your new favorite music artist. It’s worth giving a shot.
My point is, some people only care about the trends and the popularity of the singers whose music they listen to and, to be completely honest, I once was one of those people. I can now say that I didn’t know what I was missing out on. I am glad to have learned that there is so much more besides the songs on the top charts! There is so much more talent, there is so much more quality content, there is so much more… music. The talent out there is unmeasurable, the list of songs that fit your music taste is endless. You just have to look for it. Or may I say, listen to it.
