‘Black Panther’ Sold More Tickets During First Day Pre-Sales Than Any Other Marvel Movie

January 11, 20181 min read

Marvel’s Black Panther isn’t even out yet, but it’s already breaking records. According to Fandango, the movie has become the top seller among Marvel Cinematic Universe movies in its first 24 hours of advance ticket sales, topping the previous record holder “Captain America: Civil War.”

Fandango managing editor Erik Davis released the news on Twitter, additionally stating, “Black Panther is riding an incredible wave of momentum right now. It’s one of the biggest and most anticipated movies to ever open in the month of February, and its trailers have electrified the Internet. Tickets have been going fast ever since presales started on Fandango late Monday.”

While it’s quite possible the film will break even more records after it’s February 16th release, the Fandango record is not the only achievement made pre-release. It was one of the top ten most-tweeted-about movies of 2017, and it was the only movie featured on the list that hadn’t been released yet. Not to mention, it’s first teaser trailer released last summer became one of the three most-watched Marvel trailers in its first 24 hours with a whopping 89 million views.

With a cast including actors such as Chadwick Boseman, Lupita Nyong’o and Michael B. Jordan, and a soundtrack produced by Kendrick Lamar, there’s no doubt that this highly anticipated movie will give Marvel some more good numbers.
