*Spoilers Alert* This article contains spoilers for Season 1 and 2 of Riverdale.

Season 2 of Riverdale ended on a huge cliffhanger with Archie (KJ Apa) going to jail at the hands of Hiram Lodge (Mark Consuelos). Season 3 will continue this arc and will see the gang gear up to take on the villain. With the newest season around the corner, we have been on the hunt for all the must-know information about the latest run. So here’s what lies ahead for the town of Riverdale:

  • Another musical episode is in the works

Who’s excited to see KJ Apa behind another guitar? At Comic-Con 2018, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, the show’s creator told an audience that there will be another musical episode this season. However, the question on everyone’s minds is what musical the show will take on next? Hamilton? Grease? Les Miserables? The list of options is endless.

  • There will be an 80’s inspired episode centred around the parents

Season three will see an even greater focus on the parents as the writers are working on TWO episodes which will centre around the much-loved elders. Aguirre-Sacasa has revealed that the fourth episode of the season will be a flashback, in which the cast will play their on-screen parents.

Titled The Midnight Club, the episode will be draw inspiration from the John Hughes classic, The Breakfast Club. The episode will also be revealing an extremely dark secret about the parents that they have been keeping since high school.

  • Kevin and Moose will get even closer

At the end of season 2, the duo was seen making out rather intensely and Casey Cott has revealed that they are set to get together in Season 3. In the Riverdale Comic-Con panel, he told an audience that Kevin and Moose will be a thing.’

  • Alice will be seen joining a cult

Prepare to get seriously creeped out! At the end of the trailer of season 3, the producers teased a rather unsettling scene with Alice and Polly taking part in what seems to be some sort of ritual. They’re holding Polly’s twins over a fire, suggesting that Alice has taken Polly’s advice to join the farm.

  • The Jones women are set to make an appearance

This is news that should excite you! Fans have yet to meet Jughead’s mother and sister who have been alluded to often since the start of the show but never actually made a formal appearance. Well, this is all set to change as the Jones women will be making their way back to Riverdale for Season 3. Skeet Ulrich who plays F.P in the series has thrown his own set of names into the ring and told the panel at San Diego Comic Con that he would love to see Scream co-star Neve Campbell take on the mysterious role.

  • Betty and Cheryl will begin their Serpent Initiation

We have all been waiting to see what’s next for the Riverdale girls after they made the decision to join the Southside Serpents at the end of Season 2. In order to fully become a part of the gang, they will have to go through a series of initiations which as Cole Sprouse has suggested- may not be an easy task.

“I don’t think it’s going to be an easy initiation,” he said. “I don’t think that Jughead is the kind of leader that will be like, ‘Because you’re my girlfriend, come on in!'”

  • We will see a completely new side to Ethel

Shannon Purser who plays Ethel teased that fans can expect to see a more dynamic side to Ethel being portrayed in the upcoming season. In an interview with Bustle, she said

“There’s definitely more Ethel in Season 3, so fans can definitely look forward to that and it’s definitely interesting,” Purser revealed. “I can’t give away too much, but she definitely undergoes some pretty big changes… there’s a new side of her that [fans] haven’t seen before. I think it plays a very interesting part in the story this season.”

Season 2 already saw a much darker side to the character so it should be interesting to see how she develops in this season.

  • Archie will have a new nemesis

Entertainment Weekly has debuted Archie’s latest foe. Actress Penelope Ann Miller will be taking on the role of the prosecutor in his case, and is set to give him an extremely hard time. Could this be the beginning of a long prison sentence for Archie?

  • But so does Jughead!!

Roberto Aguire Sacasa who is the show’s lead writer teased a new villain that is set to rock the town and really test Jughead’s authority after taking on the role as ‘Serpent King.’

Fans have speculated that the mysterious villain could be linked to the upcoming Sabrina show which many believe will cross over with Riverdale. One fan on Reddit commented:

“I’m calling it now, this season is going to be WAY more related to Sabrina than previously thought.

“I guarantee that they’ll be a direct connection between this deer head cult and the shenanigans in Sabrina. It’s all too convenient.”

Season 3 is set to commence from Oct. 10th.
