How To Prepare For Electric Castle Music Festival

July 16, 20185 min read

Electric Castle is a five-day music festival that takes place on the domain of Banffy Castle in Romania. It combines electronic acts with surprise dashes of reggae, dub and rock. Its sixth edition will take place July 18-22 and a lot of surprises are waiting for you — here’s how to be prepared!

Get your tickets

These can be purchased on EC’s website, but be quick! Camping is already sold out and general access passes are going fast. There are still tickets left for each of the five days of the festival.

Plan ahead of time

The full schedule is available here, while an interactive map can be found here. Plan ahead of time to make sure you don’t miss any of your favorite artists’ set or one of the many attractions the alternative arts festival has installed. Learn how to get there by visiting this page — remember that the shuttle bus service will be available non-stop and it’s easiest to get to the festival grounds by bus. Get the official app on the App Store or Google Play.

Top-up your bracelet with money

Once again, Electric Castle is cashless. What this means is that you will be able to load your RFID festival bracelet with money either online or at designated points throughout the festival. The Intellipay system is courtesy of Banca Transilvania (Transylvania Bank), but you’ll also be able to pay using any Mastercard or Maestro debit or credit card. Pre-top-up your ticket here!

Check out the food line-up

With a truly impressive range of food and drink choices located in the Beer Garden, Central Market, Courtyard Market and Backyard Market, you will most likely be able to eat pancakes from a different food venue each day, enjoy anything from a smoothie to a deluxe breakfast menu each morning and taste cuisine from all over the world. For a full list of the lineup, click here. Here are some of the most exciting foods you should be looking forward to!

Cheesecake Pops by Marty Restaurants

Baowan (Taiwanese street food)

Indivan (Indian food truck)

Drunken Squid (seafood)

Nori Yakitori (Japanese street food)

Go green

Learn what steps EC6 has taken to go green and how you can help save the planet alongside Lidl and Electric Castle. This year, there will be no plastic straws in your drinks and you’ll be expected to throw recyclables and waste in separate bins located throughout the festival (same for the camping areas) to help exceed the number of trash the festival recycled last year, precisely 66%.

Furthermore, 40 electric people will pedal for more than 250 km (150 mi) to get to the Banffy Castle to raise awareness about the benefits of cycling. They promote the idea that cycling should be considered a national objective, being a zero carbon footprint means of transportation.

Get acquainted with the rules

The full rules are available here, but here are the highlights of EC social media team’s favorite rules!

Pack wellies and a raincoat

As is the tradition at Electric Castle, it will rain. Raincoats will be available to purchase at the festival, but in limited quantities, and since it is expected to rain all five days of the festival, we recommend that you bring your own from home.
