Bahari is a word that means ocean in Swahili. The ocean is what connects the girls of Bahari from their original roots. Ruby Carr, Natalia Panzarella, and Sidney Sartini came together as individual artists to form an pop indie group. The trio began their journey when Ruby and Sidney went from strangers to spending the night in each other’s houses in California. Soon enough, they started to challenge their voice by harmonizing with Natalia in Rock Mafia Studio.
Bahari signed to Interscope Records. Where they made their first debut “Wild Ones” in 2014. “Wild Ones” was later featured in TV series like MTV’s Teen Wolf and E!’s The Royals. Throughout the years, Bahari has been featured in many TV shows with songs from their EP. They released their first EP on May 2016. Dancing on the Sun EP contains five songs: “Alter at the Sun,” “Dancing on the Sun,” “Reasons,” “California,” and “Summer Forever.” Flashback to 2015, Bahari charted a #18 on “Addicted to a Memory” with electronic DJ, Zedd, in Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs. Though they didn’t catch their big breakthrough until they opened for Selena Gomez’s Revival Tour the following month. The girls toured with Selena for fifteen shows and met fans after their sets. Bahari also opened for UK artist, Birdy.

Since then, the trio has released six songs, including “I Miss You.” A song in which they featured in for the electronic dance duo – Grey. Despite it’s nostalgic lyrics, the beats are a perfect move along. It marked at #16 for Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales. Their latest single “Savage” is actually an old song they wrote at Rock Mafia. Savage gives an upbeat tempo of a house party then freezes on the song title. The music video focuses on a trade gone wrong, but at the end, the girls recover themselves.

There’s no word on when Bahari is officially debuting their first album. Although in a live stream, they were indecisive on whether to release more singles then the album or a final single then the album. Either way, Bahari is an emerging girl group who can sing while playing their instruments. They don’t focus on a certain sound in their music; they focus on the meaning of their lyrics, whether it’s upbeat or sombre Every song has a distinctive mark from each other which leaves listeners curious and wanting more.
