Pride Poems: Turquoise

June 2, 20171 min read

This is the sixth installment in the Pride Poems series. This series is about the colors of the original pride flag and what each color represents. Thing poem is about art and what art is and means.

True art is something to behold
Everything is articulate no matter what you’re told
Whether it’s a painting centuries old
Or a new story to unfold

Creativity is everywhere you go
You see masterpieces and you don’t even know
A wonderful sculpture made of snow
The artistic eye sees a painter’s flow

Each stroke is purposely poised
Every note a perfected noise
One work is meant to destroy
While the other is made to enjoy

The feeling of strokes on canvas
The look of words on a page
The sound of music screaming “hear this”
The look of faded things from age

We tend to use creation
To distract from condemnation
A way to avoid confrontation
While we bring culture to this nation

Art is inside of everything we do
When I take pretty pictures outside with you
Different colors, red, yellow, blue
Art is something we all love to do
