Spotify Reveals the Most Streamed Artists of 2017 (Where are the Females?)

December 7, 20172 min read

Spotify, one of the world’s biggest music streaming platforms, announced their most popular artists and genres in different categories, using data from 2017 that involves all their member’s music history.

The most coveted title for any artist would be the globally most streamed artist and this years’ top five was dominated by males with Ed Sheeran unsurprisingly topping the list. Though this was a great year for women with Dua Lipa, Taylor Swift, Rihanna and Little Mix topping worldwide charts; it’s sad to see that none women made it into the top 5 most streamed artists and albums. We can always hope that next year a woman will make it to the top.
